Why live in Coffs Harbour

If you are looking for a new place to call home, come and have a close look at Coffs Harbour on the Mid-north Coast of NSW.
Coffs Harbour and the Coffs Coast has been acclaimed to have the most liveable climate in Australia.
This claim comes from research conducted by the CSIRO into people’s living needs, regional climate and personal desires of people seeking a place they want to call home.
With average summer days of 270C (800F), and average winter days of 190C (660F) and lower average humidity than regions closer to the tropics.
If it is time for you to get away from the City grind Coffs Harbour has got to be the place for you to now call home. Have a look at this fabulous home in the sort after locality of Coffs Harbour Jetty.

“Coffs Harbour? Why live in Coffs Harbour”?
I have noticed over recent years I am hearing this question much less and I am now hearing the opposite comments far more often.
Comments like;
We are so happy we moved to Coffs Harbour;
for the lifestyle;
for the education opportunities;
for the work opportunities;
for the easier family living;
for the sporting facilities and the beaches,
………and so the comments flow…
With the enviable lifestyle Coffs Harbour offers, it is the 'sea change' destination many people want and it offers some of the escapades for the adventurous spirit in each of us who have the desire for life.

Coffs Harbour is a place of choice for people who want a more secure lifestyle away from the stresses and threats associated with living within vulnerable city communities.

Coffs has the relaxed sub-tropical climate with the eastern edge of the Great Divide just kissing our beaches. The Coffs region has top level education facilities with a good mix of private and public institutions that can take every student right through each level of education including our TAFE and internationally accredited Southern Cross University. The Arts and Cultural activities are also well catered for in Coffs Harbour and surrounding towns. There are community driven theatrical groups, galleries, Regional Conservatorium and several annual ‘preforming arts’ festivals.

Masteka 2 Blows Into Coffs Harbour…

Coffs Harbour attracts the best for many reasons.

The Bureau of Meteorology (www.BOM.com) issued a weather warning for a southerly gale to impact upon our coastline from Tuesday afternoon. The prediction was for winds to increase to 40 knots with rising seas and swell of 3.5 metres. The change in the wind started to make its presence felt in Coffs by about 2:00pm on Tuesday afternoon.

At this time the beautiful Luxury Motor Yacht Masteka 2 was more than 50 nautical miles out to sea and to the north east of Coffs Harbour. Masteka 2 is only 38 metres (122 feet) in length and has a draft of about 2.25M, that means the Skipper has only 3 choices when the notice comes through that the weather is about to turn dirty.

On this part of the east coast of Australia when the weather turns bad the only accessible ports are either Moreton Bay in Queensland's SE or Coffs Harbour on the Mid Northcoast of NSW. Alternatively there is the unenviable option of trying to outrun the storm and then riding it out in the open ocean waters.

Wind storm on the ocean.

As much as I would love to be one of the crew onboard Masteka 2, I am glad I was not the Skipper at this time.

Masteka 2's control center  thanks to 'Luxury Insider' magazine.

Masteka 2 was heading for Coffs Harbour and eventually dropped anchor in the sheltered waters of our outer harbour on Tuesday evening just before 8:00pm.

I watched as she came into port and the Skipper looked for a secure anchorage and she settled in for the night. In the dark I forgot about the storm and just watched the image before me. She looked splendid with all her deck lights on plus the brilliance of some special underwater lighting effects that illuminated her majestic aft portions.

I could not help but dream how special it would be to be on board Masteka 2 as it cruised to the crystal clear tropical waters of the South Pacific. Enjoying the waters of a coral atoll where the visibility into the water is limitless and the marine life is endless.

Oh where would I be without my dreams?

Thank you Coffs Harbour, because of your unique harbour and landform I am now watching another impressive visitor to our shores.

Welcome Masteka 2, it is now Saturday and you are still here.  Trying to keep safe and away from the remaining effects of the storm…. Stay safe while you sit on anchor and please, when the weather is good, return and take in the pleasures of Coffs Harbour and the Coffs Coast.

Oh and by the way, please give me a call so I may offer a little bit of local hospitality......

I am hoping Masteka 2 is not in the middle of a private charter for a limited number of nights.  Or the possibility of heading towards a Tropical Resort for someone's honeymoon adventure.

Coffs Harbour, why would I want to live there?

Coffs Harbour

Why live in Coffs Harbour?

If you are looking for a new place to call home, come and take a good look at Coffs Harbour on the Mid-north Coast of NSW.

Coffs Coast
Coffs Harbour and the Coffs Coast have been acclaimed by the peak scientific body CSIRO  to have the most liveable climate in Australia and is recognised to be one of Australia's healthiest eating regions.

These claims came from research conducted by the CSIRO into people’s living needs along with studies relating to the availability of fresh produce, regional climate and the personal desires of people seeking a place they are comfortable to call home.

The Coffs Coast Growers Market, which meets every Thursday, in the Town Centre and the Harbourside Markets on a Sunday morning, are key providers of our region's great selection of locally grown fresh fruit, vegetables and other produce to the public and leading local restaurants.

The average Coffs Harbour "summer" day-time temperature is about 270C, and the "winter" days are about 150C and the Coffs Coast experiences a reasonable average humidity throughout the year.

Coffs has a relaxed sub-tropical climate with the eastern edge of the Great Divide just kissing our beaches.

Is it time for you to get away from the pressures of the City grind?

Close Encounters.

Well I had no intention of posting anything about the second day of racing with the Offshore Superboat Championship at Coffs Harbour (today) but what the heck....

I just love the power of these high speed offshore racing boats and the skill of the crews who pilot them.

If anything goes wrong there is only a very small part of a moment to react. Take a look at the
situation boat Zhik 222 got into.... this has got to be one of those "oh shit" moments. To top it off boat Maritimo 11 was close enough to be half buried by Zhik's wash

.

Both boats retired from the race because of this incident.

Just a couple of other images of the final heat for day two. Please enjoy and remember to tell your friends about how great Coffs Harbour really is.

Coming in from the open ocean waters to the sheltered waters of the 'outer' harbour.

The difference in size and speed between the class categories of the race boats.

The overtake manoeuvre as they reach the sheltered water's of the 'outer' harbour

I guess you could leave a comment if you like or better still come and buy my house and live here like I do.

Offshore Superboat Championships in Coffs Harbour 2015

Saturday 15 August 2015 Coffs Harbour Offshore Superboat Shootout

It is Saturday 15 August and the start of the weekend for round 4 of the Australian Offshore Superboats Championship where the boats compete at speeds in excess of 200 kph over a course that takes in both the sheltered waters of the 'outer harbour' and the adjacent ocean waters.

Team Navy promo people winning new friends.

The Dry Pit for the up close and personal contact for fans.

A growing number of spectators gathered in the dry pit area as the boats were lifted by crane from their trailer cradles to the waters of the International Marina for engine checks and preparations for the afternoon's Shoot Out round prior to tomorrow's round 4 Championship heats.

Coffs Harbour has hosted a round of the annual championship for the previous 2 years and is earmarked to continue to host a round of the "Offshore Superboats" for the next couple of years.

The crews say that Coffs Harbour offers some of the best water conditions for their high speed racing and they are always keen to be here. A rumor is gathering strength that one of the teams may actually be looking at establishing a base operation here in Coffs. It is suggested the team could be looking at Coffs Harbour as an operations base because of its strategic location and good access to rail and air transport.

Today the ocean conditions were relatively calm encouraging the Superboat crews to push their boats across the swell at a good speed and we witnessed some extreme 'air' as the boats launched themselves of the top off the very small swell.

Tomorrow, Sunday 16 August, with only two more rounds after this weekend we will see the teams stretch the capacity of their powerful crafts close to their limits as they fight for points and placings in the championship.

I hope to see you tomorrow for the 'battle of the fastest' of this spectacular event.

Next month we (Coffs Harbour) will be hosting round 10 of the World Rally Championship from 11 Sept to 13 Sept.

Sunday is Market Day in Coffs Harbour

After almost a week of strong to gale force winds and just a little rain the weather is returning to what we expect for Spring here on the Coffs Coast. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 20's for most of the coming week.

Image from BOM radar web site at 0830 hrs today.

This morning we have a gentle breeze and clear skies with a rising morning temperature.

Today is Sunday and that means Market Day at the Jetty Harbourside Markets. But it was also a day to enjoy the last of the "Buskers Festival".

The fresh fruit and veggies look so good after the refreshing rain they have received and everyone is in a happy, chatty mood.

Or how about a walk up and over Mutton Bird Island and see if you can spot a whale or two.

Today was a great place for the "Surfers" amongst us.  There were more than a few good waves to ride.

Wow Coffs is such a great place to live.

Come and visit Coffs Harbour and see for yourself just how special this place is. Make contact with me for a no obligation and no suggestion view of Coffs Harbour.

Catch up soon.
